Bala Quila
The ‘quila’ or fort is also known as the Alwar Fort and is perhaps the most famous among Alwar tourist places located some 10km from Alwar railway station. Ironically named ‘bala’ quila or young fort is actually the oldest structure in the city constructed in 1550 A.D by Hasan Khan Mewavati. The fort is 5 km long and 1.5 km wide and takes about 2 hours to cover. It is one of the top places to visit in Alwar.
City Palace – Feel Like A Royal
Located just below the Bala Quila, is the City Palace built by Raja Bakhtayar Singh in 1873 it is one of the most famous places to visit in Alwar. It is a lovely combination of Mughal and Rajput architecture making it a popular place to visit in Alwar, Rajasthan. This imposing structure composed of 15 imposing towers and aided by 51 smaller towers is wonderfully bedecked with murals and mirror work on the walls and ceiling.
Siliserh Lake and Palace
The Siliserh palace is located next to the famous Alwar lake of the same name making it one of the best places to visit in Alwar. Built in 1845 by Maharaja Vinay Singh for his lovely wife Shila, this was initially a royal lodge for hunting. Later it became a full-fledged palace. The lake offers a gorgeous picnic spot as well as a chance to try your hands at sailing.
Sariska Wildlife Sanctuary
One of the best places to visit in Alwar, this sanctuary is also known as the Sariska Tiger Reserve and is located 36km away from Alwar, making it a popular place to visit near Alwar. The sanctuary is spread across an area of approximately 850 sq. km with a varied topography including grasslands, dry deciduous forests and rocky cliffs. The Kankwari Fort is located inside the reserve and is also a popular destination.
Vijay Mandir Palace – Marvel At The Architecture

Maharaja Jai Singh built this palace in 1918 in apparently a ship like design. The architecture is mostly what draws people to this spot making it one of the best places to visit in Alwar. The sprawling palace boasts of 105 rooms and its magnificence is reflected in the adjoining Vijay Sagar Lake. The interiors of the palace are not open to the public as it is still under the Alwar Royal Family.
